The project reflects on the headquarters of the Ironworkers’ Trade Union in Budapest, Hungary. Built in 1928, the building has been the backdrop of key historical events; resistance and conspiracies, political trials, raids and debates. Throughout the decades, its unionist political role has been alternatingly suppressed or celebrated. Decades after the end of the Soviet Era, layers of past and present collide; artists rent the offices of leaders past, and, as if deep in the subconscious of society, wonder among cockroaches in the dark decaying cellars in search of long forgotten symbols of camaraderie, strength and pride.
